A downloadable game

Two mazes. One goal.

Two balls sit on two separate mazes. Every press of the D-pad moves both of them in that direction at once - and each is blocked independently by the walls on its own maze. Land on a hole and the level restarts. Get both balls onto their goal tiles at the same time and you advance.

Forty levels of it.

This is a Game Boy Advance homebrew port of Double Maze, an iOS puzzle game from 2009. It runs on real hardware and on any GBA emulator.

What's in it

  • 40 levels — Can you fnish them all?
  • Saves to cartridge SRAM — progress and settings persist
  • A high-contrast mode, on L — for playing on an unlit original GBA screen, where the normal palette collapses into one flat tone
  • An options screen with separate levels for music and sound effects
  • An original chiptune soundtrack

Playing it

Download Double Maze.gba below and open it in a GBA emulator — mGBA is what it was developed against — or put it on a flashcart. It writes a save file alongside the ROM, so keep the two together.

  • Title: A play, B instructions, START options, SELECT credits
  • Options: up/down picks, left/right changes, B or START back
  • Level select: D-pad to move, A to play, B back
  • In game: D-pad steps both balls, START skips, SELECT restarts, B back to level select
  • L toggles contrast, from any screen.
